Leather Cleaning Products

Leather cleaning products are widely available for furniture and upholstery, jackets, and car seats in the form of cleaners, conditioners, and more.

Leather cleaning products are the a necessary part of caring for any furniture or car interior that features leather surfaces.  Liquid and food spills, or using the wrong type of chemical can be catastrophic for leather.  Liquids tend to seep into the surface extremely quickly and can cause excessive drying, which leads to cracking or the leather becoming brittle or discolored.  Only by using the right combination of leather cleaners can you guarantee your furniture, or car looks just as shiny and brand new as the day that you bought it.

Any routine will need to encompass two areas, leather conditioning and cleaning.  For that you’ll need a few leather cleaning products, in order to get the job done properly.  One of the most important factors is choosing the right type of leather upholstery cleaning solution.  If you have finished leather surfaces, you’ll want a spray or liquid leather cleaning solution that you can apply directly to the fabric.  Sprays are great for large surfaces, while a cleaning solution is fantastic for really effective deep cleaning.  You’ll want to combine either with a micro fiber cloth to ensure you can really work the fluid in, and take away any stains or chemicals that have seeped into the surface of the leather.

After that, no routine is complete without leather cleaning products like conditioning lotion.  Over time leather loses the oils originally used to tan the hide.  That results in dried out and discolored leather that is no longer as comfortable to sit on.  To completely avoid this, you’ll need leather conditioner to keep the furniture, jacket, or other item soft to the touch.  There are leather conditioning sprays, wipes, and even oils.  Sprays work best for quickly conditioning large surfaces, while oils are fantastic for really rubbing the lotion in.  Wipes are ideal for the car so that you can quickly and easily condition the smaller seats, and have your leather car upholstery looking just as good as the day you bought your car.

You’ll also want to have leather cleaning products like leather stain removers on hand, so that you can immediately address a new stain.  When a liquid or chemical has been freshly spilled onto a leather surface, you’ll want to get to cleaning as quickly as possible.  Leather spot treatment is the best way to do this, and can be found in spray bottle, or pen form.  Small leather cleaning pens are really handy for the car, so that you can treat a stain on the go.  While spray bottles are great for cleaning leather furniture, so you can tackle any job before the stain has a chance to set into the fabric.

When you’re looking to buy any type of leather cleaning product, you’ll want to go where cleaning supplies are sold.  You can find a great selection at department stores, like Sears for example, and an even broader selection at hardware stores like Home Depot.  Most leather cleaning products fall into the price range of $10 to $25, depending upon the type you’re buying.  Remember to ensure that the product is intended to be used on finished leather surfaces, before making a final purchase.  Otherwise it could contain a chemical that will damage your furniture.
